Helen Moore, informed of her Confederate soldier husband’s status of “missing in action and presumed dead,” faces abject poverty until she and her young son Aaron move to Marietta, Georgia, to live with her uncle Henry Dawson. Henry, a photographer, needs assistance with his business, and Helen and Aaron are apprenticed to help him. Then, while digging a mint bed beside Henry’s house, Helen unearths the body of an unidentifiable man, and dark questions begin to surface. How did the body come to be there? Was her uncle a killer? Would she or her son be next?

As the mystery of the dead man unravels in sinister ways, Helen finds unexpected help and companionship, and learns—sometimes painfully—every moment in time matters.

How Does a Godly Woman Live in a World Out of Sync?

Through her speaking, writing, and radio show, Heart of the Matter, she provides a message for everyone—authors, young moms, mothers of teens, homeschool moms, empty nesters. Here’s a place to talk, rest, and learn.
