Churchill’s secretary and bodyguard collaborated this story, although Churchill didn’t publicly admit to the event.
Winston Churchill’s mother came from the United States, so he always felt a special comradery with the American people. In addition, he and Roosevelt shared a long-term friendship. After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt invited Churchill to the White House for Christmas, and they probably strategized about the war. One morning, Roosevelt devised a new name for what would become the United Nations. He eagerly rolled his wheelchair into the Lincoln bedroom to chat with Churchill. However, Churchill had just crawled out of the bathtub. The hot water had left his skin very pink. Horrified, Roosevelt apologized.
Churchill replied. “The Prime Minister of England has nothing to hide from the President of the United States.”
Churchill later remarked to King George VI that he was the only British Prime Minister who ever entertained a foreign dignitary in the nude.
What a joy to have a heart so pure, you have nothing to hide. Hebrews 4:13 says, “…there is no creature hidden from His [God’s] sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” The chaotic world around us reminds us Jesus could return at any time. Be prepared!
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9
